The big fire that hit the Cose in Peest’s care farm last night appears to have completely destroyed the brand new coffee roaster of the care organization. According to a cose spokesperson, only that work shed was hit by the fire and other buildings were retained on the site.
The fire broke out just before midnight and the fire threatened to spread to the main building with apartments of the clients. They were evacuated as a precaution and the residents were taken by bus to a reception location in Roden.
According to the cose spokesperson, the clients cannot go back home at the moment. “We hope that this will happen today, but we are still in consultation with the police and fire brigade.”
The cause of the fierce blazing fire last night is not yet known. “That is far too early now,” reports the cose spokesperson. “We also depend on the fire brigade and police in that area.” Cose already announced last night that it was relieved that the fire brigade could prevent the fire from spreading to the other buildings. But the impact on clients and staff, among others, is great.
Earlier this year, Cose proudly presented its own coffee roaster in Peest, which was just just a few months in operation. Beans arrived unprocessed at the care farm and there they were keen for various coffee -made ones. The residents of the care farm plunged into the project en masse, told supervisor Erwin Veenstra in March: “The clients love it. They are enthusiastic and feel important. For me, those are goosebumps.”
