Brand new carnival song by Gullie and Lanterfantje under the spell on Spotify

Big disappointment with carnival artists Gullie and Lanterfantje. Less than a day after the singer with impressive dreadlocks from Den Bosch and the DJ duo from Tilburg launched their party record ‘Ladders Zat’, the song has already been removed from Spotify.

The song is a parody of singer Claude’s ‘Ladada (Mon Dernier Mot)’. The three friends decided to give it a fun twist for the upcoming carnival, but record company Cloud 9 has now had the song taken offline on streaming services such as Spotify. You can still listen to ‘Ladders Zat’ on YouTube and TikTok.

“At the end of the afternoon we suddenly received a message that our song has been removed from Spotify,” says Thomas van Groningen, DJ at Lanterfantje. “That is of course a great pity. It is still less than two weeks before carnival starts and then of course you want as many people as possible to hear your song.”

“We don’t understand it,” continues the Tilburger. “We arranged everything neatly, according to the rules. That’s how the record company and the original writers were also on the release, so that they were paid nicely when the song was played.”

“It’s a parody, and we think that’s where the pain is.”

Thomas suspects that the record company is not charmed by the fact that it has become a carnival number. “It’s a parody, and we think that’s where the pain is.”

On Thursday, the three will talk to Cloud 9. They hope that the song will be allowed on Spotify again. “We abide by all the rules, covering and parodying is allowed. And it is also part of carnival, I hope they understand that.”

“It has been a tradition for years that existing songs are given a carnival jacket by party artists,” says Thomas. “Gullie has also covered several hits, and never had any problems with that. It’s just part of it.”

Ban or not, Gullie and Lanterfantje are fully booked during carnival. De Bosschenaar has 28 shows in Brabant, the DJs of Lanterfantje are on stage 15 times. “We’re going to make sure that ‘Ladders Zat’ can be heard everywhere.”
