Boy (16) drives 220 km / h in stolen car during wild chase

The police have arrested two French children (14 and 16) who drove at 220 kilometers per hour in a stolen car near Breda. A chase of more than a hundred kilometers from the border arose on Saturday night, which ended in Nijkerk with the arrest of the two.

Officers were driving near Breda when they heard that a stolen French car was entering the Netherlands on the A16 motorway. Soon the car drove onto the A27, in the direction of Utrecht. A police car had already spotted them in Breda. At that time, the driver was still driving normally at 120 kilometers per hour.

Faster and faster
The officers drove after it until more police cars could join. At Oosterhout they wanted to catch up with the stolen car, but the driver accelerated, up to 180 kilometers per hour. For the sake of form, the police gave a stop sign, but the children did not respond and they sprinted away. Even when the police turned on the blue flashing lights, the boys continued to drive fast. Speeds were reached up to 220 kilometers per hour.

The officers saw no way to safely force the car to stop at those high speeds, so they continued to drive behind it. The driver tried to shake off the officers at the Hoevelaken junction by moving from left to right. At the last minute he turned onto the A28 towards Zwolle.

Stopped after tens of kilometers
In the meantime, the French car was being chased by several police cars. The occupants will have realized that it was not their day and eventually stopped at Nijkerk on the emergency lane. Several police cars jammed the car and officers arrested the two.

Only then did it become clear how young the two criminals were: 16 and 14 years old. The older of the two was the driver. They were taken to the police station in Apeldoorn and are being questioned by the detectives. The stolen car is returned to its rightful owner in France.
