Boy (14) caught behind the wheel of a car: ‘Cousin was too tired to continue driving’

A 14-year-old boy was caught driving a car through Geldrop on Saturday night. Officers wanted to speak to the driver after they saw that the car was driving without low beam headlights on the Willem Barentszweg. When the motorist stopped, they saw that it was a 14-year-old resident of Eindhoven. The police announced this on Sunday evening.

The boy had taken over the wheel because his 31-year-old cousin, who was sitting next to him, had indicated that he was too tired to continue driving.

HALT penalty
“The public prosecutor will look into this case because this 14-year-old driver previously received a HALT punishment for a different offense,” the police said. “Any car that this 14-year-old drives without a valid driver’s license will be seized by us.”
