In Budrione di Carpi third victory for the champion from Teramo: beaten D’Alterio 12-7 in the final. Mirko Savoretti won in the Rebirth Trophy: the champion from Recanati beat GianPaolo Signorini 12-6 in the final
Gianluca Formicone, standard-bearer of the Vigasio (Vr) club, won the 47th edition of the “Golden Ball”, an international invitational competition – reserved for 32 individualists – which took place on Saturday 3 January on the lanes of the bowling alley of the Polisportiva Rinascita, in Budrione di Carpi. The champion from Teramo has thus written his name on the roll of honor of the prestigious event for the third time. In front of the public for special occasions that packed the stands prepared by the organizers, the “Mirmidone” Formicone defeated Giuseppe D’Alterio, representative of the Possaccio (VCO) bowling club, 12-7, at the end of a match full of technical and spectacular content. The winner relied above all on his approach, his fundamental favourite: despite some slight errors in his volley, Formicone once again managed to prevail thanks to great competitive determination and an overwhelming bowling personality. However, the performance of Peppe “Big” D’Alterio was also excellent, having won the “Pallino” in 2018 by beating Formicone in the final. On the third step of the podium, equal merit, Giuliano Di Nicola (Sant’Angelo Montegrillo-Pg) and Davide Truzzi (Sammartinese-Mo/Re). The international referee Claudio Angerettti directed the event well, with the collaboration of an excellent refereeing staff: assistant Riccardo Antolini, Christian Giovannini, Emanuele Simonini, Claudio Visini, Martina Visini, Manuela Angelini and Gaetano Benzoni. Present at the awards ceremony were, among others, the top leaders of the FIB: president Roberto Favre, vice president Francesco Furlani and national councilors Alessandro Bianchi and Moreno Rosati, the latter also acting as president of the CER (the European Raffa Confederation).
