Two trophies in the space of just over a week for the Bianconeri from Rio de Janeiro: it is the third title after those of 1968 and 1995. Already on the field on Wednesday in the Intercontinental against the Mexicans Pachuca

Brazil is tinged with black and white. Eight days after winning the Copa Libertadores, Botafogo also won the championship, the third in its history after those of 1968 and 1995. Not even time to celebrate the victory for the champions, who a few hours after the final whistle of the match having won 2-1 against San Paolo, they embarked for Qatar, where on Wednesday they will make their debut in the Intercontinental Cup against the Mexicans Pachuca. In 2025, Botafogo will also play in the Club World Cup.

VICTORY IN RECOVERY

To win the title, Botafogo only needed to beat San Paolo and so it was, even if only in the final: Venezuelan Savarino broke the deadlock in the 37th minute for Botafogo, but in the second half San Paolo equalized with William Gomes. The “scudetto” goal was scored by Gregore who, in full recovery, gave Fogo the victory. The only team that could have snatched the title from Botafogo (who then finished with 79 points) was Palmeiras (73) who however lost at home to Fluminense – desperately chasing safety points – 1-0. Goal from the Colombian Serna and relegation averted.

GABI…GOAL AND GOODBYE

Former Inter player Gabigol scores in his farewell to Flamengo: 2-2 at home against Vitória. It is Gabigol’s 161st goal with the shirt of the Rossoneri club from Rio. And in all likelihood it will also be the last, given the rumors that see him in dispute between Cruzeiro and Santos, the club that launched him into great football.
