Rarely a Champions League match will be so little exciting as the match between Arsenal and PSV on Wednesday evening. Nevertheless, they want to make the best of it at PSV after the 7-1 last week in Eindhoven. Does trainer Peter Bosz believe in a miracle in the Emirates Stadium? “I don’t want to happen to without ambition,” says Bosz on Tuesday evening. “But also not as an idiot.”
It immediately became clear that PSV did not travel to London to make up for a 7-1 deficit. In particular, further confidence must be built up after a difficult period. On Saturday, the Eindhoven club showed a kind of recovery by winning from Heerenveen. “That was a first step,” said Bosz.
“With a view to the competition we will give players peace.”
It became clear on Tuesday evening that Bosz will opt for some spare players. “The competition is now the most important thing. With a view you are going to make certain choices. Players who have had a tick can now give you a rest. And players who normally reserve, but train very well can give you the chance.”
One of those players is Armando Obispo. Just before the press conference, the defender was told that he will play on Wednesday evening. “That is only nice. This is a fantastic poster that you don’t need motivation for. And somewhere you naturally also have revanche feelings,” says the defender.
“If necessary, I will contribute to the cards of the fans.”
Those who can continue to count on a base place did not want to say Bosz yet. But the expectation is that Luuk de Jong will be spared. Especially considering the statements of the trainer about the fact that the competition is the most important thing.
Finally, it was about the fact that PSV will pay the tickets of the 3000 supporters. “That’s a nice gesture,” says Bosz. “And if necessary I will pay. Those supporters have already bought their card before the home game. Then this is a nice gesture from the club.”
