Bosz fired at Olympique Lyon – Ex-PSG coach Blanc presented as successor

5 games without a win

Coach Peter Bosz’s exit from Olympique Lyon has been confirmed. The club announced the decision on Sunday and immediately presented the successor, Laurent Blanc. OL have been five games without a win and are currently seventh in Ligue 1. “Internal reflections have been made to find the necessary levers for the team to restart on a solid footing to meet OL’s ambitions in to live up to this season,” it said in a club statement

Lyon were held to a 1-1 draw by Toulouse on Friday after losing four in a row. Overall, Bosz has averaged 1.67 points from 58 games since taking charge in May 2021, a poorer tally compared to the last two coaches who have been on the touchlines for more than 50 games. A few weeks ago there had been reports of an ultimatum for Bosz, which the club denied at the time.

Ex-PSG coach Blanc follows. President Jean-Michel Aulas has been dreaming of winning the 56-year-old for orienteering for several years. Blanc, world champion from 1998, has not been engaged since his release from Al-Rayyan SC in February. He was contacted the day after the defeat in Lens eight days ago. The contract runs until 2024 plus an option for a further year.
