Boston Celtics strike first battle in NBA final against Golden State Warriors | NOW

Boston Celtics took the lead in the NBA Finals on the night of Thursday to Friday (Dutch time). The first game in the best-of-seven series against the Golden State Warriors was won 108-120.

Entering the final quarter at the Chase Center in San Francisco, the Warriors led 92-80, before the Celtics struck again. Al Horford, Jaylen Brown and Derrick White all scored over twenty points on behalf of the visitors.

Warriors star Stephen Curry was the most prolific player of them all. The two-time NBA ‘MVP’ finished the game with 34 points, five rebounds and just as many assists, but was unable to prevent a defeat.

The Boston Celtics hope to win the NBA Finals for the first time since 2008. The club last made it to the final in 2010, when the Los Angeles Lakers were narrowly too strong for the Massachusetts club (4-3).

The Golden State Warriors will win their fourth championship in eight years. Coach Steve Kerr’s team was the best in 2015, 2017 and 2018 and was the losing finalist in 2016 and 2019.

Last year’s NBA Finals were won by the Milwaukee Bucks. The team of star player Giannis Antetokounmpo was stopped by the Celtics in the quarterfinals this year.
