After half a year of injury break

After more than half a year out due to injury, Tim Kleindienst has returned to the Borussia Mönchengladbach squad. The captain, who suffered a meniscus injury in mid-May, initially took a seat on the bench in the Bundesliga game at his former club 1. FC Heidenheim. With 16 goals in 31 games, the 30-year-old was the Foals’ top scorer last season and was therefore sorely missed in recent months when the club was in crisis.

“It’s generally tingling. It’s almost cheesy that it’s coming against Heidenheim. It’s something special for me because it’s been almost half a year to the day. It’s been a long time, so you’re all the happier that you’re back,” said Kleindienst on “Sky”. He made a total of 172 appearances for FCH – by far the most in his career.

In his absence, Hoffenheim loanee Haris Tabakovic became the most accurate shooter in the Gladbach squad, scoring seven goals across all competitions. “As far as I’m concerned, Haris can continue like this. It’s not about us competing, but about creating a team spirit. I’m really happy for Haris that things are going this way and hopefully he’ll score us a lot more goals. Hopefully we can also talk about us playing together.”
