The beach volleyball players Karla Borger, President of the Athletes Germany Association, and Julia Sude have reached the semi-finals of the Pro Tour tournament in Itapema/Brazil.
The third-placed Europeans, who had beaten the top seeded local heroes Talita/Rebecca in the decisive game of the group phase, reached the semi-finals with a 2-0 (21:19, 27:25) against the Canadians Brandie Wilkerson/Sophie Bukovec.
For Isabel Schneider and Sandra Ittlinger, the quarter-finals were the last stop. Borger/Sude will meet Sara Hughes/Kelley Kolinske (USA) on Sunday (2:00 p.m. CEST), the final will take place at 9:30 p.m.
“After playing three matches on Friday we were tired,” Sude said, “but now we’re at a point where it’s getting easier for us the more we play. We came to Brazil for a good result, But we didn’t expect it to go that far.”
