Boektopia Kortrijk reaches out to participating publishers canceled Antwerp book festival

After last year’s first small-scale edition, READ! The Book Festival in Antwerp will not be continued this year. The spiritual successor of the Book Fair in Antwerp Expo throws in the towel, according to fair organizer Easyfairs, because the division within the sector is too great.

Meanwhile, its counterpart Boektopia in Kortrijk has announced that their planned extended edition for this year will certainly take place. “We are going from three to nine days during the autumn break and also welcome a lot more publishers,” says spokesman Jo Dupré.

Whether Boektopia should expect additional publishers due to the cancellation in Antwerp remains to be seen for the time being. “There are some publishers who only want to commit to Antwerp. It is difficult to predict whether they will come to Kortrijk. We are already reaching out to all publishers, bookshops and media partners who still want to come to Kortrijk,” says Dupré.

Boektopia takes place from October 29 to November 6.
