Bodyguard testifies about domestic violence in Depp vs Heard trial: “I saw injuries on his face” | Lawsuit Johnny Depp vs. Amber Heard

celebritiesAlthough Amber Heard (36) has always claimed that she was a victim of domestic violence by Johnny Depp (58), his bodyguard Malcom Connolly now says he has never seen any of it. On the contrary: according to him it was like Depp who was being mistreated.

Johnny Depp’s lawsuit against Amber Heard is still ongoing. On Thursday, Malcolm Connolly, the bodyguard of the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ actor, came to testify. Via video link, because the bodyguard resides in the United Kingdom. He started working for Depp way back in 2006, says Connolly. He thus also experienced the beginning of the relationship between his employer and Amber Heard. “In the beginning they were really ‘lovey-dovey’,” he says. “Everything went great. It really was the honeymoon. It was great to see Johnny so happy again. Amber was sweet and charming – as she usually is.”

But that soon changed. The couple started arguing more and more, the bodyguard testified. “Amber started to change. She became more hot-tempered, more demanding. I could see that she wanted to wear the pants in the relationship. That was very clear.” According to Connolly, Heard could suddenly become “icy chilly” and saw Depp becoming quieter and Heard grumpy.

He has never seen physical violence between the two, it sounds like. But he could already hear fights. “I could hear Amber screaming. I could hear yelling and crying.” Those sounds were “mainly” from Heard, according to Connolly. “They argued more often than not.” Then the bodyguard began to notice that his employer was getting scratches and cuts to his face. Heard never noticed any injuries, it sounds. “I noticed right away that those injuries were visible on the left side of his face. Scratches on his neck. A swollen lip. A bruise on his eye socket. It happened more and more. Not every week, but at least it happened.”

A photo taken during the honeymoon in 2013 was also shown during the trial, which allegedly showed injuries, including significant swelling, on Depp’s face. When asked about the photo, Connolly points to the “swelling to the left of Depp’s nose” and “below his left eye”. His interrogator wants to know what had happened. “Either he ran into a door or the door ran into him.”

His comment caused laughter in the courtroom. And later on during his testimony, Connolly caused hilarity. When asked about the incident in Australia, Heard’s lawyer wanted to know if he could confirm that Depp was urinating in the foyer. The bodyguard looked surprised and replied briefly, “No.” That made Depp laugh. Heard’s lawyer then wanted to know if Connolly had seen Depp’s penis, to which he replied: “I think I would remember if I had seen his penis.”
