Body of baby found in Bruges

The public prosecutor’s office can confirm that it has advanced an investigating judge for infanticide and guilty omission following the death of a baby in Bruges. The victim’s mother was arrested last night, she is not yet arraigned before the investigating judge.

The autopsy will have to determine whether a crime has been committed.

It is therefore not yet established that a crime has been committed. For example, it could also be a stillborn child.

According to Het Laatste Nieuws, the baby was found in a garbage can, but mayor Dirk De fauw does not confirm that. According to him, the child would have been found in a house in the social district ‘Blauwe Poort’.
