Body found in boat that sank on the Lek

The police found the body of a deceased person on board on Saturday in the boat that sank on Friday after a collision on the Lek near Ameide in Utrecht. The body of the person on board has yet to be identified, but there is a real chance that it is the missing woman who was on board the boat, a police spokeswoman said. It is not yet clear how long the identification will take.

The pleasure craft sank on Friday after it was run over by an inland vessel. The boat was found that same day by divers, after which it was brought to the side. The body was found in the boat ashore.

The other people on board the pleasure craft were able to reach shore safely. There they were received by the emergency services.

Police are not giving any further details yet.
