The fashion house Böckmann Group takes over the business operations of the Cloppenburg fashion house Werrelmann.
Owner Jürgen Werrelmann, who runs the retailer with his wife Constanze Werrelmann, will hand over the reins to the group based in Recke, North Rhine-Westphalia, on May 1st, Böckmann announced on Friday.
“After more than 40 years as managing director, it is now time to hand responsibility over to younger hands,” said Werrelmann. “When looking for suitable successors, it was important to my wife and me that our business as the Werrelmann fashion house was retained and that all employees were taken on.”
According to Recke, this wish was achieved by concluding a long-term rental agreement with the Böckmann Group. The 42-person Werrelmann team will be completely taken over by Böckmann.
Böckmann Group expands portfolio
“In the spring of last year, Jürgen Werrelmann contacted us and reported on his thoughts about handing over the management of the always family-run fashion house into other hands,” says managing director Matthias Böckmann. “From the beginning of the subsequent rounds of discussions, we felt how much passion the Werrelmann family put into the company and what special importance the local people have for them. Since this focus on togetherness and the region is very much in line with our corporate idea, we are very happy that we have the opportunity to continue running the fashion house that is firmly linked to Cloppenburg.”
The Böckmann Group currently operates 13 fashion stores under the brands “Modehaus Böckmann” and “Modehaus Maas” as well as seven lingerie and lingerie stores. In March of this year, another branch will be added at the Lingen location with the opening of a men’s fashion store. In total, Böckmann employs around 590 people. Matthias Böckman manages the business of the Böckmann Group together with his cousin Christian and brother Raphael.
