Angela de Jong fears the worst for Art Rooijakkers after his clash with Wierd Duk, the chief of News of the Day. “It seemed like none of the guests took him seriously anymore.”

There was already some doubt about it: the combination of Art Rooijakkers and the new right-wing SBS 6 newscast Nieuws van de Dag. He would be far too woke for such a conservative program. And behold: on day four he is already in full conflict with Wierd Duk, the leader of the right-wing opinion makers, who are the real stars in this program. And not the host.

Subcutaneously

Where Malou Petter seems to go well, Art. Perhaps he is not taken too seriously because of his background. The general public mainly knows him from entertainment such as B&B Vol Liefde and he is also a huge vain on Instagram. Does he exude enough authority to lead those conservative opinion makers?

Angela de Jong fears the worst after that collision with Wierd. “This wasn’t just any clash, this was a very interesting one that exposed some underlying tensions,” she writes A.D.

Weak point

News of the Day is quite nice TV, Angela thinks. “The only weak point so far is Art Rooijakkers. (…) He is a fairly colorless presenter, who has already been with the NPO, Net5 and RTL 4, but never had the favorability factor. And I don’t know if he is left-wing, but he is certainly not Telegraaf-right.”

Neither does Malou, but she does have a journalistic image, she continues. “Art is mainly the man who in recent years interviewed horny B&B owners on TV and announced a tree trunk throwing competition in Expedition Robinson.”

‘Doesn’t look good’

Angela thinks it’s a mismatch that doesn’t look good. And if you are already arguing with Wierd, who, according to her, thinks she is the Johan Derksen of the program, then that is of course not nice. “

After that heated argument, things didn’t work out anymore, she saw. “It seemed like none of the guests took Art seriously anymore. And he was certainly no longer in control. His comments were ignored, people casually talked over him while he tried to ask a question. It was very uncomfortable to watch.”

Who has the longest?

According to Angela, it will now come down to ‘who has the longest’: Wierd of Art. In any case, they will no longer appear at the table together, expects TV authority Tina Nijkamp. “In any case, I think for the future that Art and Wierd will not be put together again so quickly. Wierd will probably be seen sooner in a Malou broadcast.”

She continues in her podcast Tina’s TV Update: “It was already clear that those men did not get along at all. Wierd in particular was immediately on top of it when Art said something.”

Arguing

Art and Wierd may have clashed before, says Tina. “It seems that they already know each other better than we as viewers know, because this program has only been around since this week, but a number of pilots have already been recorded and who knows, Art and Wierd may have already met there.”

“Perhaps tensions arose there then. That’s what I thought about when I looked at it.”

Where is clash?

Media journalist Jarco Kriek finds it particularly strange that the images of this argument are not published on the Telegraaf site, which normally jumps on every argument. Is that to spare Art?

Jarco on X: “Once again the guys from Today Inside are right about Art in News of the Day. And how striking that De Telegraaf does not show the images of this spicy macho fight on the site. And in the days before that a lot of this program was shown…”
