Bobsleigh dominator Francesco Friedrich makes the decision for the Olympics

Francesco Friedrich made the last personnel decision for the Olympic Winter Games in Beijing.

The two-man bobsleigh races on the Olympic track in Yanqing will be contested by the record world champion with pusher Thorsten Margis from SV Halle. That said the record world champion of the “German Press Agency” on the sidelines of the World Cup in Winterberg.

The double Olympic champion switched between Margis and his club colleague Alexander Schüller this winter. With the 24-year-old Schüller, he won World Cup gold in a small sled in Altenberg in 2021.

But at the last World Cup in Sigulda, Friedrich, who was born in Leipzig, suffered the only defeat of the season. For Margis, eight years older than him, with whom Friedrich won all World Cup titles from 2015 to 2020 and the Olympic victory in Pyeongchang with the Canadian Justin Kripps, the experience in tricky situations speaks for itself.

After all, it was Margis who gave the extra kick in difficult moments like 2018 in South Korea or a year later at the World Cup in Whistler to secure the victory.

In the four-man bobsleigh, exceptional pilot Friedrich relies on the Margis, Schüller and Candy Bauer crew at the games in China from February 4th to 20th. Martin Grothkopp is traveling as a substitute.
