BnnVara is undoubtedly linked to Eva Jinek for stealing the idea for a TV lecture with Robbert Dijkgraaf, thinks TV authority Tina Nijkamp. “That really comes from DWDD.”

Eva Jinek was seen during the holidays with two specials of her AvroTros talk show. One of these was a special with Robbert Dijkgraaf, in which he tried to predict how our lives will change in the future due to artificial intelligence. It looked very much like the former DWDD University with Matthijs van Nieuwkerk.

‘BnnVara furious’

Cheating, says TV authority Tina Nijkamp. “That special with Robert Dijkgraaf was really reminiscent of the DWDD University colleague that he occasionally gave for BnnVara, for De Wereld Draait Door. That was with Matthijs van Nieuwkerk. The first one there scored a million viewers and now with Eva only 506 thousand viewers.”

She continues in her podcast Tina’s TV Update: “I honestly think that BnnVara is very angry with AvroTros for stealing this idea. You have someone give a lecture. That really comes from DWDD and is therefore the property of BnnVara.”

Legal bark letter

Should Eva’s producer now pay? “I can imagine that a lawyer from that broadcaster will write a letter to AvroTros about the fact that the format is theirs. I don’t know if that will happen, this is speculation, but it wouldn’t surprise me. I would also be furious as BnnVara if this idea is stolen.”

She continues: “Also because BnnVara lost their talk show in the early evening. Jeroen and Sophie had to leave and Eva took their place. Quite right in terms of viewing figures, but Eva falls under the heading of culture and that is why it can be made by an outside producer. Science, of course, has nothing to do with culture.”

No success

So there are problems on all sides, says Tina. “So I would be angry if I were BnnVara. Rightly angry too.”

The chance that Eva will continue with that DWDD University copy is small, she concludes. “It didn’t score, so I honestly don’t think Eva and her own university will come back either, because it just wasn’t a success.”
