This year, the municipality’s technical department installed steps to make it more comfortable for walkers to get from one field to another. Hikers especially appreciate the long rows of flowering trees that create a special atmosphere. “I came from the Netherlands especially to see this. Everything is in bloom or just starting to bloom,” says a visitor.
Although there are no official registrations, Leen De Neve of the Dentergem sports department estimates that around ten thousand people follow the routes. This year, extra investments were made in communication and brochures to help visitors from far away find the right starting points and routes.
The blossom walks and cycle routes with various distances continue until May 3.
