Blokker has a new owner and wants to make a new start with 45 franchisees of 46 stores. The chain previously had almost four hundred stores in the Netherlands. You can read about the situation in Zoetermeer here.

The branches of franchisees are also open after December 31, reports the AD. They are not included in the bankruptcy that was declared last November.

Blokker in Zoetermeer

Unfortunately, the three Zoetermeer branches are not part of a franchisee. The stores in Stadshart, Rokkeveen and Oosterheem are therefore not part of the upcoming restart.

] The nearest store that does belong to a franchisee is the branch at Prins Hendrikstraat 19-21 in Bodegraven. You can still go here for the necessary Blokker items. On the Blokker website you will find the current opening hours.

New owner after bankruptcy

The new owner of Blokker will take over the store chain’s formula, just like the webshop. Officially the name of the owner is not known, but according to… multiple media would it be Roland Palmer. He is the cousin of Jaap Blokker, who was general manager of Blokker for a long time.

Possible restart for other branches

Most Blokker branches in the Netherlands are no longer open after December 31. Yet there is still hope for Blokker fans near those locations. The new owner is investigating whether it is possible to reopen other stores. The AD writes: “Whether this is possible depends on the landlords of the buildings. Discussions about this could take ‘months’, according to a press release.”
