In the past ten years, Bloemendaal was no less than seven times the most expensive municipality in the Netherlands. Together with Blaricum, Laren regularly had to settle for a lesser podium place.
But in 2024 the roles were reversed. An average owner -occupied home in the Gooise Brinkdorp cost 1.05 million euros. In Bloemendaal that was 1.04 million euros. This is apparent from Research by CBS and the Land Registry.
‘No arbitrariness’
According to CBS head economist Peter Hein van Mulligen, the fact that the chic in North Holland places regularly compete for this proverbial podium place is certainly not random. “The places are close together on the annual list and therefore regularly change pennies,” he says.
And changing that penny can go fast. “If one year a little more cheaper homes are sold, you will quickly get lower as a place. And they are so close together, so they can quickly change place.”
