US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, during a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov, called on Russia to de-escalate and withdraw troops from the border with Ukraine, the State Department said. Blinken also said that the United States is ready to continue a “substantive dialogue” with Russia on security issues. Reuters.
“The Secretary of State emphasized the readiness of the United States, both on a bilateral basis and together with allies and partners, to continue a substantive dialogue with Russia on mutual security concerns,” the State Department said in a release.
The United States intends to conduct such a dialogue in full coordination with its partners and allies, Washington stressed.
