He stressed that Moscow could show readiness for a diplomatic way of resolving the conflict through the withdrawal of troops from the borders with Ukraine.
At the same time, he noted that the threat of a Russian invasion of Ukraine is high enough and inevitable for the order to leave most of the staff of the US Embassy in Kiev. However, key members of the diplomatic mission will remain in Ukraine.
According to Blinken, Russia may use “a provocation or an incident” to justify its aggression against Ukraine.
