Blauw-Wit is looking for a new goal machine: “You can’t just replace Momo Stavenuiter”

At Blauw-Wit, trainer Mark van der Laan dares to raise the target for the new indoor season. Daring, because the Amsterdam korfball club said goodbye to top scorer Momo Stavenuiter this summer. “We are going to raise the bar higher than last year.”

Blauw-Wit will face KZ from Koog aan de Zaan on Sunday. Remarkably, both teams already faced each other last Saturday. On the final day of the Theo Korporal Spectacle, Blauw-Wit lost 22-19. “It’s crazy that we play against KZ twice in a week. Both parties have not yet given up their tactical plans. So next Sunday it will be a completely different game”, Van der Laan analyzes.

”Stavenuiter has scored a thousand goals, you can’t just replace them”

A few things have changed with the Amsterdammers within the selection. Momo Stavenuiter and Gerald van Dijk ended their careers and Kenny Lauf left for DTV. Frank Mostard, on the other hand, returned to the old nest. He previously played five seasons in Amsterdam and came over from TOP from Sassenheim. Niels Stuurstraat (formerly Nieuwerkerk) and Linda van der Wal (formerly DVO) are also playing in the capital this season.

A thousand goals

The new acquisitions await the difficult task of making old-timers Stavenuiter forget. Stavenuiter has scored more than a thousand goals in his career. “You can’t just replace that. Yet we are going to raise the bar higher than last year. Last season we fought for enforcement, now we want to participate for places four, five and six.”

”Some wanted to travel the world, we allowed that during the field season”

Despite an ambitious goal, a mixed preparation was made. “The world opened again after corona. Many players took this opportunity. Some wanted to travel around the world. We allowed that during the field season. As a result, we have played few games with a complete team. There is now a hard line again drawn and everyone is present.”

cruciate ligament injury

Van der Laan can have an almost completely fit selection on Sunday. Only newcomer Linda van der Wal will be missing. She suffered a serious cruciate ligament injury during the field season. She is expected to be out of action for months.

The match between the two province members KZ and Blauw-Wit starts on Sunday at 15.30. NH Sport makes a summary that you can see on this site on Sunday evening.
