Björn Borg will develop shoe collections on his own in the future

The Swedish clothing supplier Björn Borg AB will develop and market its shoe collections independently in the future.

The company thereby drew the consequences from the insolvency of Unlimited Footwear Group BV, whose subsidiary Serve & Volley BV had previously held Björn Borg’s footwear license. In view of the resulting consequences, Björn Borg has decided to end the collaboration with the company with immediate effect, according to a statement published on Monday. In the future, the brand’s shoe collections would be designed, developed and sold by an in-house team.

The lingerie and sportswear specialist announced that it would now begin developing the footwear collections for 2025. The products for the current year have already been produced by the previous license partner. The company warned that its current situation could have a “negative effect on Björn Borg’s sales and delivery options.” Possible financial effects are currently “difficult to estimate”, but a maximum impact on earnings of 5 million Swedish kroner (0.4 million euros) can be expected, said Björn Borg.

The integration of the shoe collections into the company’s own company will offer the opportunity to accelerate sales growth in the future without jeopardizing the earnings targets, emphasized Björn Borg in a statement.
