Unlike many global brands, Birkenstock does not outsource production. The company retains control of every step of the production line, allowing it to respond flexibly to changes in demand while maintaining its heritage as a German company. With around 5,500 employees worldwide, Birkenstock focuses its activities primarily on Germany. There are production facilities in Rhineland-Palatinate, North Rhine-Westphalia, Bavaria, Hesse and Saxony. The investment project in a new plant in Pasewalk, north of Berlin, which cost 120 million euros, is particularly noteworthy.
Birkenstock maintains sales offices in the US, Brazil, China, Singapore, Hong Kong, Japan, Denmark, Poland, Slovakia, Spain, France, Norway, Dubai, India and the UK to strengthen its global presence.
