Slaven Bilić returns to the Saudi Pro League. The 54-year-old takes over as coach at Al-Fateh SC, as announced on Saturday. The Croatian worked in Saudi Arabia from 2018 to 2019, when he was in charge of the Ittihad Club. Overall, it is his ninth coaching position at club level, and he was also on the sidelines as national coach of his home country and the U21s.
Bilić, who succeeds Greece’s Giorgos Donis at Al-Fateh SC, is the latest example of head coaches heading to the Saudi Pro League. Previously, Jorge Jesus went to Al-Hilal SFC and Steven Gerrard to this path, among others. The league is also very popular with many well-known footballers this summer due to its financial appeal.
