The international skiing federation Fis expanded its list of Russian and Belarusian athletes and background persons who have received neutral status.

The decision gives the persons in question permission to compete with neutral status in future World Cup competitions and the Winter Olympics.

Thursday the published announcement five new persons have been granted neutral status.

The decision adds to the group of previously approved athletes, as already on Wednesday Fis gave permission to six Belarusian and three Russian athletes to participate in the competitions as neutral.

Now the list was supplemented with two athletes and three background influencers.

The newly approved are Belarusian cross-country skiers Hanna Matshakhina and Hanna Karaljova as well as the background people of the country’s cross-country skiing team Aleh Bykauskikh and Ilya Ramanenka.

In addition, neutral status was granted to the leader of the Russian cross-country team To Yevgeni Uftikov.

The decision means that the Russian skiing stars Saveli Korostelev and Darya Nepryaeva can compete at the weekend in the Davos World Cup with the normal support group.
