Big change for travelers from Zaanstreek and Waterland: buses no longer run to Amsterdam CS

As of today, buses from Zaanstreek and Waterland no longer run to Amsterdam Central Station. In addition, Connexxion buses no longer run through the Zaan region: it has all been taken over by bus operator EBS. A big change for travelers.

From now on, bus passengers in Amsterdam North or Amsterdam Noorderpark will have to transfer to the metro or train to get to CS. Reason: work on the Prins Hendrikkade. It is expected that the buses will continue to Central Station again from September next year.

Puzzling with grids

EBS promises that travelers in the Zaan region will improve. For example, the new carrier partly uses newer vehicles that are more comfortable and the number of buses has increased by about twenty percent. On the other hand, it is still a tough job for EBS to finalize the roster in terms of drivers. “We are still looking for dozens of new colleagues,” said EBS concession manager Kaj Mook. “To keep all services running, everyone is currently putting in an extra mile. But to make their lives a little more relaxed in the future, we could use a few more drivers.”
