Bayer Leverkusen – 1. FC Köln (Friday, 7.15 p.m.)

The derby between Leverkusen and Cologne is not just about supremacy in the Rhineland, both teams can at least conquer the top of the table overnight. “Of course, a derby is always something special and particularly important for the fans.”according to Leverkusen’s coach Robert de Pauw in advance of the game.

Both Leverkusen and Cologne got off to a good start to the season, both winning their opening games. The FC women in particular surprised with their superior 3-1 victory against the Champions League candidates from Hoffenheim. An all the bigger surprise, since the club has gone through a phase of upheaval – eleven departures versus twelve newcomers.

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim – VfL Wolfsburg (Saturday, 5:55 p.m. live on ARD)

While Wolfsburg are enthroned at the top of the table like last season, Hoffenheim find themselves in the unusual penultimate place after the opening defeat against Cologne. From TSG’s point of view, that should now change in the first home game of the season. At least the scenery should be right, because for the first time a Bundesliga game of the TSG women will take place in the large Sinsheim stadium. The club is hoping for 7,000 spectators.

TSG Hoffenheim welcomes the champions and cup winners from Wolfsburg to the 30,150-seat arena in Sinsheim.

Hoffenheim proved that Wolfsburg can be beaten last season with a 2-1 win. Also this time they don’t see themselves without a chance: “They don’t have the flow yet either, because it’s still early in the season. If Wolfsburg can be beaten, it will be at the weekend.”, said TSG coach Gabor Gallai. However, he has to do without national player Jana Feldkamp because of a suspension.

Bayern Munich – Werder Bremen (Sunday, 1 p.m.)

Werder Bremen has never won against the Bayern women. But this time, Bayern are struggling with problems. At the start against Frankfurt there was only a goalless draw, in the Champions League qualifier they only just won against Real Sociedad. You are not satisfied with the performance and have to improve, so the voices after the game.

Bremen started the season satisfactorily, with a 1-1 draw against Turbine Potsdam they could have done even better.

Turbine Potsdam – MSV Duisburg (Sunday, 1 p.m.)

The duel between Potsdam and Duisburg is one of two old Bundesliga hands. Duisburg can look back on 27 years of Bundesliga experience, Turbine Potsdam on 28. But times are changing: MSV, until 2014 under the name FCR 2001 Duisburg and 2009 Champions League winner, is fighting for relegation as a promoted team.

Turbine also has to reorient itself after the upheaval in the summer – 14 players left the club.

SC Freiburg – Eintracht Frankfurt (Sunday, 4 p.m.)

For the first time, SC Freiburg welcomes the Eintracht women to the large Dreisam Stadium, which they have shared with the men’s second team since December 2021. Frankfurt striker Géraldine Reuteler is happy: “We can expect a team that plays aggressively and physically. In the past, it has always been very close and good games that have been fun.”

However, Frankfurt will have to do without Laura Freigang, who injured her shoulder in the goalless start to the season against Bayern. Freiburg, on the other hand, could have a perfect start to the season after beating newly promoted Meppen on matchday one,

SGS Essen – SV Meppen (Sunday, 4 p.m.)

Promoted SV Meppen was very close to winning a point at the start of the season, but in the end the promoted team had to admit defeat to SC Freiburg by a narrow 2-1. Nevertheless, was a trainer Carin Bakhuis proud of their team. “My team presented themselves very well.” They now want to do better against SGS Essen.
