‘Biden’s dog bites White House staff for the eleventh time’ | Abroad

US President Joe Biden’s dog, a German shepherd named Commander, bit a White House security guard on Monday evening, reports CNN. According to the security service, it was the eleventh time that the two-year-old dog bit someone.

“Yesterday around 8 p.m., a Secret Service Uniformed Division police officer came into contact with a First Family pet and was bitten,” an agency spokesperson said. “The officer was treated at the scene by medical personnel.” The injured officer is now doing well, according to CNN.

According to the security service, Commander “has been involved in at least eleven biting incidents at the White House and in Delaware,” where the Bidens live when they are not in Washington or traveling. In an incident in October, first lady Jill Biden lost control of the dog when it attacked a member of the Secret Service staff. In November 2022, an officer had to be hospitalized for bites to the arms and thighs.

White House officials said otherwise in July CNN that the Bidens were working on new training and leash protocols for the pet after the incidents. “I believe it is only a matter of time before an officer is attacked or bitten,” a staff member said at the time.

Another of Biden’s dogs, named Major, has also been involved in biting incidents at the White House. The German Shepherd then left the White House. In 2021, Commander arrived at the presidential official residence.
