A bicycle thief was arrested on Saturday after a chase in Tilburg. Local residents helped the agents with this. The bicycle thief is a 19-year-old man from the Belgian Poppel. The chase ran through the entire sports center on Stappegoorweg.

A woman from Tilburg warned the police earlier on the day after she thought that her electric bicycle was for sale on an online sales site. That bike was stolen the day before.

She made an appointment with the seller at the sports center on Stappegoorweg. She agreed with the police that she would send a message if she was sure that it was her bike that the seller had with her.

Flight over stands
When the purchase was settled, agents arrived. The seller was shocked, he ran away like a hare. He ran into the sports center, closely followed by agents.

In the ice rink he ran over the stands and went out of the building through the emergency exit. He climbed over a fence and a building site of a new -build neighborhood, with the agents after him.

A few local residents decided to help the agents and stopped the suspect. The Belgian was swifted and brought to the cell in the police station. In the evening the man was released again. He must come to court at a later time.

From someone else
In the meantime, the investigation into the stolen bicycle continued. The bike turned out not to belong to her, unfortunately for the woman who closed the sale. The bike was stolen, but from someone else. The 19-year-old Belgian had rented a car to transport the bike.
