Biathlon World Cup in Kontiolahti: Franziska Preuss is absent from the season-opening race

Status: 11/30/2022 11:45 a.m

Biathlete Franziska Preuss will miss the World Cup opening race in Kontiolahti, Finland this Wednesday.

The 28-year-old, who had to take a break for several weeks in preparation due to health problems, will skip the difficult classic over 15 kilometers and should then take part in the sprint on Saturday. “Franziska doesn’t feel 100 percent fit. To ensure her health, we decided to give her two more days to recover and do some easy training,” said German team doctor Katharina Blume on Wednesday.

Thus, Denise Herrmann-Wick, Vanessa Voigt, Juliane Frühwirt, Sophia Schneider and Anna Weidel will be at the start for the German team.
