Biathlon World Cup 2024 | Bø before the end of his career? “It will be very strange…”

The Norwegian gold hopes at the 2024 Biathlon World Cup rest primarily on the brothers Johannes Thingnes and Tarjei Bø. However, it is uncertain how long the tension will continue to compete together.

Tarjei Bø told the newspaper “Verdens Gang” in January that an end to his career in the spring was not out of the question.

“I’ve been thinking about that, we don’t know whether it’s Tarjei’s last season or not,” said Johannes Thingnes Bø in the run-up to the 2024 Biathlon World Cup (February 7th to 19th) in the Norwegian tabloid about his older brother’s sporting future : “It will be very strange when he retires.”

“It will probably be the worst for him,” Tarjei Bø reacted and added with a wink: “I almost hope that I will finish at least a year before him, so that I can feel like I can be with him during the summer and Christmas holidays be eating sweets for breakfast and sleeping late while he needs to exercise.”

Tarjei Bø: “I created a monster”

While Johannes Thingnes Bø is currently at the top of the overall World Cup, Tarjei follows in third place. The older brother played a key role in the 17-time world champion pursuing a career as a ski hunter. “Without him I wouldn’t have become a biathlete,” revealed Johannes Thingnes Bø.

“I created a monster,” joked Tarjei Bø. The decision in favor of biathlon certainly paid off.

Johannes Thingnes Bø is one of the most successful ski hunters of all time. The 30-year-old (17 gold medals) can even replace his compatriot Ole Einar Bjørndalen as the record world champion (20 gold medals) at the World Championships in Nove Mesto. However, the biathlon competition may have something against it.
