The biathlon season 2024/25 was mixed for Johannes Dale-Skjevdal. The strong Norwegian initially commuted between the World Cup and the IBU Cup, and was only really convincing in the final sprint in March. In an interview, the 27-year-old has now looked back on a “roller coaster” winter.
“It was a roller coaster season. It was hard. I am proud that I could fight again at the highest level, but nothing is a matter of course. My body was put to the test this winter. I am hungry for revenge, and that increases my wish for success,” he emphasized in conversation with “Langrenn.com”.
According to good results, Dale-Skjevdal gave his debut in the World Cup in the second-class IBU Cup in the Finnish of the Finnish. There he had disappointed with results beyond the top 20 and was immediately called back to the second row. It was not until mid -January that the Norwegian returned to the World Cup.
Biathlon: “Completely crazy level” in Norway
But Dale-Skjevdal also disappointed in Ruhpolding. “A single slip is enough, and you can find yourself in the IBU Cup or in the Norwegian cup. This is a completely crazy level,” emphasized the 27-year-old and said: “There are so many good biathletes that it is not easy to get a place. But that’s how the game is accepted. There is no special treatment. That forms the character.”
Dale-Skjevdal owed his excellent sprint to the end of his season that his season was not completely screwed up. At the Pokljuka he ran into the top five for the first time, at the World Cup final in Oslo, the European champion ran onto the podium for the first time from 2022. He blamed a break for his good performances on the Holmenkollen.
“I did what I enjoyed without taking care of the results or failures,” the Norwegian relay champion revealed his recipe for success.
