Sable falls out

In the German team, David Zobel falls out after qualifying. For him, it didn’t add up at all on the shooting range and after five penalties, it was no more than 38th place in the final result. Roman Rees delivered the best result of the qualification with ninth place. Justus Strelow ranked directly behind. Philipp Horn (12th), Lucas Fratzscher (16th) and Philipp Nawrath (17th) also made it into the top 30 without any problems.

That’s how the qualification went

A total of 77 athletes started in the qualification in the morning. The Belgian Thierry Langer delivered the best performance in the fast-paced competition. He was one of the few athletes who managed to go through clean and secured victory over Sweden’s Peppe Femling by 8.2 seconds. Tommaso Giacomel from Italy finished third ahead of Hornig from the Czech Republic and Stalder from Switzerland.

How is the super sprint going?

The super sprint is a comparatively young discipline in biathlon, but has not yet been used in the World Cup winter, despite some plans. After the field was reduced to 30 athletes in the qualification in the morning, the mass start will take place on the course. In the final competition, two prone shots and two standing shots are fired, the athletes have one spare at their disposal. If a disc is still standing, the penalty loop, which is quite short at 75 meters, begins.

Event gains recognition

The Summer Biathlon World Championships have been around for a while, but the event is gaining more and more recognition. Only the stars from Norway, France and Austria are missing from this year’s world championships. For its part, the Swedish team competes with their top athletes.
