Last season Ella Halvarsson celebrated her greatest career success. Now she has spoken about a challenge that she had to overcome.

In March two years ago, Swede Ella Halvarsson made her debut in the World Cup. Since then, the biathlete has developed well and was even able to win a medal at the World Cup this year. The 25-year-old secured silver in the Lenzerheide in the individual and thus chose vice world champion. The way there was not easy, as Halvarsson confessed in an interview with the International Biathlon Union (IBU).

“I’ve been getting very nervous, since my childhood. I even vomited before competitions, it was not so beneficial,” said the Swede and added: “To overcome it and learn to deal with nervousness was a big challenge.” However, she had overcome her nervousness.

“As a teenager, I just decided that it didn’t work and that it has to stop now. There were still a few highs and lows, but then it got better,” said Halvarsson. So she even got a medal this year. The Swede is proud of it, as she revealed: “This is the greatest success of my life, and that means a lot to me.”

In general, she does not try to deal with negative thoughts for too long, she also explained to the IBU. “I know what I have to work on, and I do that. I try to tick off bad shooting quickly. If you aim too much on perfection, you hang up on every mistake and then more mistakes happen.”

Her routine also helps her. This includes a healthy breakfast. “Two slices of bread with butter and ham and a bowl of yogurt with muesli. If there is no ham, I only eat bread with butter, that’s very bland with black coffee.”

Ella Halvarsson started her sporting career early and concentrated on the IBU Cup from the 2020/21 season. In 2023 she gave her World Cup debut. Halvarsson is a member of the Biathlon Biathlon Association and part of the Swedish national team.
