The sport is cracking down on betting offences. The focus was now on a player who had previously made an extensive confession.
The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has banned Argentine tennis player Leonardo Aboian for six years and nine months for multiple betting fixes. The 27-year-old admitted fixing several of his singles and doubles matches on the ITF World Tennis Tour and ATP Challenger tournaments between 2018 and 2025. In addition, Aboian must pay a fine of $40,000, of which $25,000 was suspended.
The South American had already been provisionally suspended since September 19, 2025. Aboian achieved his best placement in the world rankings in April 2025 with rank 229, before he was completely banned from playing until June 18, 2032.
