Joop (84 years old) from Duivendrecht and André (83 years old) from Amsterdam have been friends all their lives. They grew up together in the Rivierenbuurt and played football on the playground of the Vondelschool. In the past, a window of the school would sometimes break when a corner was taken. “Andre is really sick of football,” says Joop in the television program Besties.

The boys lived around the corner from each other. André: “When I was twelve, I moved to the attic room. Joop also slept there and we could walk to each other via the flat of the roof.” “There were also nice ladies in the attic, and we would go and see if they would secretly urinate, real naughty pranks,” adds Joop.

For André, their close friendship means someone you can trust and turn to with your worries, problems and sorrows. “I have become a widower and then you go after the women again. I have been complaining about that to Joop and Ans.” When the friends say goodbye, they agree to meet again soon for coffee or lunch.
