Tastes are known to be different, and fortunately, quality cannot be measured in sales figures. But if it is up to the users of the “Rate Your Music” platformKendrick Lamar’s TO PIMP A BUTTERFLY from 2015 is the best, but at least the most popular album in music history.
On “Rate Your Music” records can be reviewed, debated and rated by the community. Previous front-runners there in the “best album of all time” category were Radiohead with OK COMPUTER. Lamar has now overtaken them, his third album has an average rating of 4.34 points there. Ratings alone are not decisive, however: “Rate Your Music” calculates the number of points using a complex algorithm, which includes the number of all reviews and the respective activity level of the users on the site.

Kendrick Lamar released his fifth album MR in 2022. MORALE AND THE BIG STEPPERS – making it number 1 on our list of the 50 best albums of the year.
Radiohead’s current album A MOON SHAPED POOL was released in 2016. According to drummer Phil Selway, the band plans to meet again this year. It is not yet known whether this could be about new music or celebrations for the 20th anniversary of their sixth album HAIL TO THE THIEF.
On “Rate Your Music” you can also read out rankings for, for example, the best albums of a given year in addition to the category mentioned. According to this, the best record of 2022 came with ANTS FROM UP HERE from Black Country, New Road.
