Berry van Peer starts his first World Darts Championship with a victory

Berry van Peer had an excellent debut at the Darts World Cup. The 27-year-old darts player from Sprundel won 3-2 against Englishman Luke Woodhouse on Thursday afternoon. “It was very close,” he told Viaplay afterwards.

With a 2-1 lead in sets, Van Peer had two chances to close out the match. Both times he failed and Woodhouse came back to 2-2. Van Peer finished it off in the fifth and deciding set.

“It felt a bit tense. I am very happy that I won,” said Van Peer. He is number 107 in the world. The darts player will face Northern Irishman Josh Rock against Viaplay in the second round on Saturday.

On Tuesday evening, the other Brabant darts player also won: Michael van Gerwen. He defeated Irishman Keane Barry 3-0 in the second round.
