Rabea and Deborah Schöneborn want to work together to take part in the Olympics.

Double track and field power made in Berlin! Rabea Schöneborn (28) missed the Olympic qualification for Tokyo in 2021 by just nine seconds. However, her twin sister Deborah, who finished 18th in her Olympic debut, would have thrown her out of the team.

In 2024 in Paris, the Berlin Marathon Twins from the SCC finally want to stand together at the Olympic starting line. At the European Championships in Munich, things worked out together, both became European champions with the marathon team.

For all German marathon runners, the fight for Olympic qualification has now begun. Deborah (MD, PhD in progress) presented. She ran a new personal best of 2:25:52 at the Seville marathon 14 days ago, beating the required Olympic standard (2:26:50). Rabea (studies psychology) wants to do more at the Hanover marathon on March 26th.

And so that the training isn’t always so lonely, Rabea spontaneously started the 32nd Britzer Garten Lauf (600 starters) over ten kilometers on Sunday. Curious: she ran the route twice.

The winner (34:39 minutes laughs) laughs: “Some of the runners must have looked a bit strange when I took off my start number and started running again.”

Rabea explains, “The second 10K was just marathon pace and combined with the warm-up I had a great 30K workout overall – in preparation for the marathon.”
