The Berlin Senate extended the existing Infection Protection Ordinance on Tuesday until mid-January 2023.

“This means that we will not be making any changes to the mask requirement in public transport at this point in time, as is planned in other federal states,” said Berlin’s Governing Mayor Franziska Giffey after the Senate session on Tuesday.

The current Corona Measures Protection Ordinance is limited until December 21st. According to Health Senator Ulrike Gote (Greens), the regulation has now been extended until January 17th. Then the Senate will discuss any changes again.

The capital is thus taking a different approach than, for example, the states of Saxony-Anhalt and Bavaria, which only recently lifted the mask requirement in their local transport.
