Berlin betting shop murder – Hells Angels send 20 lawyers to court

It was one of the longest court cases in recent criminal history, and now there could even be an extension.

Eight years after the Berlin betting office murder, the Federal Court of Justice (BGH) has to deal with the case. Life imprisonment is too long for the rockers who have been convicted of murder and incitement to murder! They are demanding that the decision be overturned, and a lawyer is even demanding that his client be acquitted.

Twenty lawyers sent the eight convicts around the Berlin Hells Angels boss Kadir Padir to Leipzig on Tuesday!

Because of the rush of lawyers, the initial hearing for the Rocker revision had to be moved to a hall of the Federal Administrative Court. The rooms of the 5th BGH criminal senate in the Plagwitz district of Leipzig are too small due to the conditions in the pandemic.

The BGH judges have scheduled two days for the oral hearing. A decision could already be made on Wednesday.

On January 10, 2014, 13 hooded rockers marched into the Reinickendorf betting shop “Expekt”. In the back room, one of them fired six fatal shots at Tahir Özbek (26).

The attack was revenge for a Hells Angels rocker injured by the victim in a 2013 nightclub brawl.

After five years and 300 days of trial, eight Hells Angels accused of murder were sentenced to life imprisonment in October and December 2019. Rocker boss Kadir Padir was also sentenced to life for incitement.

Only one judgment in the proceedings is final so far.
