Ben Cramer (78) has had a particularly fierce traffic incident, so he can no longer walk normally. “An engine of 350 kilos has fallen on my leg.”

It was just as shocked for those present of some party of the Circustheater in Scheveningen last week: singer Ben Cramer was there too, but could hardly walk. What is the matter with the singer, who openly applied for a place in one of the rotating chairs of The Voice of Holland earlier this year?

350 kilos

Ben is suddenly very bad. How is that? “I fell over with the engine, I almost stopped. There was 350 kilos on my right leg,” he says in the latest Party.

It was very intense, according to the singer. “Yes, I spent two hours in the hospital. Nothing was broken, but just above my knee it is very blue. Under that … you don’t want to know that.”

Foot

How Ben spends his days? “When I’m at home, I lie with my foot up and I also sleep with my foot up. I feel almost nothing. But if I get up … you can compare it with heavy cramp in your calf, but then really five, six, seven times stronger.”

He continues: “I can hardly walk. Once I walk a little, it will work, but that leg is getting thicker.”

Week or seven

How long is Ben out of the running? “That is not said. I’ve had it once before. I think about seven or eight weeks.”

Finally: will he go motorcycle again after his recovery? “No, no, no … I have decided not to go on this engine anymore. It is too heavy, 350 kilos. Driving is not a point, but if you make a bend, you have to have a lot of room to take that turn, because otherwise you will not keep the engine. If you are out of balance, then you go.”
