Belgium’s business climate deteriorates in October

By Ed Frankl

BRUSSELS (Dow Jones)–The Belgian business climate deteriorated in October. As the Belgian National Bank (BNB) announced, the index fell by 2.4 points to minus 16.8 points. Behind this are contradictory sector-specific developments: the climate deteriorated particularly in business-related services and somewhat less strongly in the construction industry and retail. Only in the manufacturing sector did the climate not deteriorate. To determine the business climate, the Belgian central bank surveyed around 4,500 companies.
