Belgian sun cream producer disputes Test Aankoop study: “We do offer enough protection” | Money

The producer of Biosolis sun cream strongly disputes the results of a study by Test Aankoop. The consumer organization had announced the day before that a complaint had been lodged with Public Health against three sun creams from the Belgian brand. According to Test Aankoop, these do not meet the protection promised on the packaging.

Test Purchase asked for the three Biosolis products – SPF 30 spray version, SPF 30 lotion and SPF 50+ lotion – to be taken off the shelves. According to the consumer organization, the products do not comply with both UVA and UVB protection (respectively responsible for skin aging and sunburn). According to Test Aankoop, the SPF 50+ lotion only falls short in terms of protection against skin aging.

Via a press release, the company behind the products is now biting away. Bioholistic-Provera wants the greatest transparency to be displayed, it sounds. “We strongly dispute the allegations and confirm that our products provide the protection stated on the packaging.” According to the manufacturer, the protection has been demonstrated through tests in independent laboratories. At the beginning of this year, several analyzes are also said to have yielded satisfactory results.

Analysis method

According to the company, the difference in result results from the analysis method that is used. Biosolis works on the basis of a “100 percent natural mineral filter” and such a specimen works differently than a chemical one.

Products with a chemical filter penetrate the skin and absorb the radiation, while those with a mineral filter cover the skin and reflect the radiation. “Two completely different methods, so the analysis method must also be different. However, Test Aankoop systematically uses the same test methods for their comparative studies, something we have always resisted.”
