On the E19, the highway from Breda to Antwerp, traffic is experiencing a lot of disruption due to a convoy of tractors. At Kleine Bareel, on the north side of Antwerp, the road is closed due to the farmers’ protest. Traffic from Breda towards Antwerp is advised to drive via Bergen op Zoom.
This leads to standstill traffic on the E19 near Merksem. Tractors also drive at walking pace on the Antwerp ring road. This route is often used by Dutch freight traffic.
The farmers are protesting against the nitrogen policy, strict regulations and shrinking incomes.
