According to the Thai police, they received a report from Jongchit J. (62) on Tuesday morning around 8:20 am. She is the daughter-in-law of victims Florent Leon E. (83) and his wife Maria Alfonsine C. (84). Jongchit J. (62) lives with the elderly couple and their son Patrick (64) in the luxury villa with swimming pool. Florent Leon E. (83) and his wife Maria Alfonsine C. (84) had bought it only five months ago.

When emergency services arrived on the scene, they discovered the elderly couple’s bedroom door was locked. Their room was accessible through a sliding glass window. The body of Maria Alfonsine C. (84) was lying on the bed and the woman had died. She was covered with a blanket.

The police found the body of her husband Florent Leon E. (83) in the adjacent bathroom. There are indications that he may have taken his own life. Thai police suspect the couple had been dead for about 12 hours before they were found.

Funeral

The daughter-in-law, Jongchit J. (62), told police that she and her husband had traveled to Phang Nga in southern Thailand on Monday for her father’s funeral. They arrived home late on Monday evening and thought the couple had gone to sleep early. This morning the couple went to the store together to do some shopping. When her parents-in-law did not show up for breakfast afterwards, she became worried. Receiving no response when she knocked on their door, she went to look through the sliding window and discovered both bodies.

The police consider the deaths suspicious and are conducting an investigation. They keep three options open. It could be a double suicide, murder and suicide, or double murder.
